What does HFTR stand for?
HFTR stands for Hunt for the Rares. The full project name is PSW Hunt for the Rares, created by PandaSaidWhat.
Does HFTR automate gameplay?
No. Tracker synchronization can happen automatically, but sharing, waypoints, routes, countdowns and other player-facing actions require user input.
What is Hunt Mode?
Hunt Mode guides you between eligible DAILY rares using HFTR's own navigation arrow. It can select the nearest remaining target and skip rares that are already complete, locked or currently unavailable, but it never moves, targets or fights for you.
Which Midnight zones are supported?
The current Midnight module includes Eversong Woods, Zul'Aman, Harandar, Voidstorm, The Coiled Isle, Val and Naigtal. Voidstorm and The Coiled Isle are currently research-backed implementations awaiting full author live-testing. The current public version is shown automatically on the website from HFTR's confirmed release catalog.
Does installing Core also install Midnight?
Yes. Midnight is HFTR's current expansion and is installed automatically as a required dependency when you install Core through CurseForge. Older expansion modules remain optional and can be installed individually.
Why did Midnight disappear after updating Core?
Core v0.15.2 separated Midnight from the older combined package. If you upgraded from Core v0.15.1 or earlier and Midnight is missing, right-click PSW Hunt for the Rares in the CurseForge app and select Reinstall. CurseForge will restore Core and automatically install Midnight. This one-time repair does not remove your settings or collected data.
Why does HFTR have a Windows Companion?
WoW addons cannot make normal internet requests. The Companion reads HFTR SavedVariables after WoW writes them, uploads queued community observations, downloads the latest community snapshot and prepares local data for the addon.
I installed HFTR with Companion. Why does CurseForge or WowUp not show it?
Addon managers do not always discover folders installed by another application during a normal refresh. In CurseForge, open the three-dot menu and choose Scan Addon Folders. In WowUp, use Re-Scan Folders. After the full scan, the manager can identify the installed HFTR modules and handle future updates normally.
Is the community drop chance official?
No. It is an observed estimate calculated from community samples. HFTR shows the sample count so you can judge how meaningful the percentage is.
What legacy loot is collected?
Only mounts and toys. Current expansion content can collect a broader useful-loot set while excluding gray/vendor-trash items.
Does HFTR need my Battle.net credentials?
No. Never enter your Battle.net password into HFTR or its Companion.
